Sandmonkey on sectarianism in Egypt

This is really a great post, very enlightening.

Ellis Goldberg made two comments about this when I posted it on Facebook, which I will summarize.

1. The "take a Christian to lunch" approach won't work any better in Egypt than the "take a Negro to lunch" campaign worked in the US, largely for the same reasons.
2. The
country's political leadership need to be held accountable for not dealing with the problem openly and politically. The Sharaf government and all the upper-level political elite (including presidential candidates) are avoiding directly dealing with these issues, despite all the violence of the disputes.
